Mandolin Workshop                                                                           Thursday, February 9th 2012 7-9:30pm $50                                           Steve will cover back up skills, new songs, chords from basic to intermediate forms and how they move around the fingerboard,and more.

2 Day All Level Flatpicking Workshop                                                      Friday & Saturday February 10th & 11th 2012 $90                                       This workshop will last 8 hours and is for all levels of players. At the 2 hour session Friday night, Steve will get to know each student. He will answer questions, give pointers, and evaluate each student’s strengths and weaknesses. From Friday’s observations and questionnaire, he will tailor the next day’s session for the group. The 5-6 hour Saturday session will cover core picking skills and techniques, repertoire and building blocks for growth.

Advanced Flatpicking Workshop                                                      Sunday February 12th 2012 10-2pm $50                                                Steve’s 3 hour upper intermediate-advanced workshop will focus on figuring out the fingerboard, chord substitutions, new songs and more. No beginner questions will be answered.

Druha Trava has been crafting their own traditional bluegrass/ folk sound since 1991 when the band formed in its native Czech Republic. Their multi-instrumentation is solid and quite intricate in capturing the sound of Central Europe. Druha Trava, which means "Second Grass," came together under the mind of international country/bluegrass star Robert Krestan. Krestan's love for the five-string banjo stems back to his love for Pete Seeger, who performed in Krestan's native homeland in 1982. Seeger's show pushed Krestan to seek out American folk, and he aimed to make it applicable in Czech music. He brought musicians Lubos Malina (banjo), Jiri Mesner (bass), Martin Ledvina (guitar), and Lubos Novotny (dobro) to complete Druha Trava, and their tight sound has achieved global recognition, including awards for "Band of the Year" by the Czech recording industry. They scored gigs alongside bluegrass and folk forerunners such as Ricky Skaggs, Peter Rowan, Davy Spillane, and Béla Fleck as well. The band signed to Compass Records and have been touring the world bring thier unique sound of world grass to new audiences.
